Art Lab/Studio (MS + HS)

All Middle and High School Art Labs should accommodate individual, small, and whole group instruction and art exploration. The space should be multi-functional to accommodate the creation of various forms of art projects, discussions of theory, and instruction in art history. The Art Lab should be able to accommodate 2D and 3D design, including hand-built and wheel-thrown clay work. The Art Lab should have direct access to support spaces including art supplies storage, a kiln room, and an outdoor patio.

Flexible Space

Flexible space shall be provided where students can be messy, creative, and explore various media.

Storage

Projects that are in progress will require temporary storage in the forms of vertical and horizontal storage and racks. Equipment and tools and media will require secure storage around the edges of the room or in extended learning areas.

Durable Materials

Use durable materials that are easily cleaned and equip the spaces with controlled lighting setups, including black-out shades and full spectrum lighting.
