Specialized Learning (Elementary Innovation Suite)

The Innovation Suite is a combination of a Science Classroom, Technology Classroom and a Makerspace. The Science Classroom should include 4-6 sinks throughout the space and is intended to be used for non-digital art instruction as well. The Technology Classroom will be used to instruct students on the use of various software programs, from word processing to animation. These technologies are intended to assist the students with developing and collaborating on projects that would be implemented with the Makerspace.

Flexible Space

Flexible space shall be provided where students can be messy, creative, and explore various media.

Storage

Projects that are in progress will require temporary storage in the forms of vertical and horizontal storage and racks. Equipment and tools and media will require secure storage around edges of room or in extended learning areas.

Durable Materials

Use durable materials that are easily cleaned and equip the spaces with controlled lighting setups, including black-out shades and full spectrum lighting.

Display Space

Provide ample display space for students to showcase their work and progress.

Adjustable Acoustics

It is possible to provide a singular multi-use space with adjustable acoustics (such as curtains or adjustable baffles). Rooms should be highly acoustically rated to prevent disruption to adjacent learning spaces.
